GMV Max automation rules
Last updated: November 3, 2026
Watching every GMV Max campaign and video by hand is slow, and the moment to act is easy to miss. Automation rules watch them for you and act in TikTok on thresholds you set: pausing a campaign that spends without orders, raising a budget that's paying off, boosting a promising video, or taking out one that wastes money or breaks your content rules.
Rules come with GMV Max on every active plan, including trials, and need TikTok Ads connected. To be told when a figure crosses a line instead, use a GMV Max alert.
Create a rule
Ads > GMV Max > Automation, under Rules, holds rules for every campaign on an ad account, including campaigns created later. Rules for one campaign's videos are on that campaign's Automation tab.
- Click Add Automation Rule, choose a Rule type, and name it. Defaults are filled in, and the help button beside it explains each rule.
- Keep Dry run (log only, recommended for new rules), which records what the rule would do, or choose Live (calls TikTok API).
- Set the cooldown: how long the rule waits before acting on the same campaign or video again.
- Tick Enable rule immediately after creation to turn it on, then click Create rule.
Otherwise a new rule starts off and in dry run. Use its switch to turn it on, Go live or Switch to dry run to change mode, View activity for its latest 100 actions, or the bin to delete it. Under Last run, each rule shows how many campaigns or videos that run checked, matched, and acted on. To change its name, thresholds, cooldown, or mode, click the pencil (Edit rule), then Save changes; switching to live asks you to confirm first. A rule's type can't change, so for another type, add a new rule.
Start in dry run and review a week of activity before going live. Min Spend → Pause, ROI Boost with a Max daily budget, and ROI Reduce / Pause are good first rules.
Rules for whole campaigns
These cover every campaign on the ad account. Most judge an Evaluation window of the last 1, 3, or 7 days, including today so far.
| Rule | What it does |
|---|---|
| Min Spend → Pause | Pauses a campaign once it reaches Minimum spend with no orders. |
| CPA Boost | Raises the daily budget while cost per order is at or below your threshold. Skips campaigns with no orders. |
| ROI Boost | Raises the daily budget while ROI meets your target. |
| ROI Reduce / Pause | Cuts the budget, or pauses, when ROI falls below your floor. |
| Target ROI + Budget Sync | Raises target ROI and budget when today's spend reaches a share of the budget after a set hour; lowers target ROI, leaving the budget, after a day that spent under a share of it. |
| Remove AI Videos | Removes videos TikTok labels AI-generated. Keep if ROI is at least spares videos that sell. |
| Remove Flagged Videos | Removes videos Content Moderation flags, using the rules you set there. Keep if ROI is at least spares videos that sell. |
CPA Boost and ROI Boost raise the budget again each time they match, so set Max daily budget to cap them.
Target ROI + Budget Sync acts only on campaigns that bid to a target ROI. Turn off TikTok's automatic budget increase in Seller Center first, so only one of them adjusts the budget.
Remove Flagged Videos works from Content Moderation's scan results, so turn on Auto-Scan there to cover new videos. Choose which flags count: Must NOT include keywords, AI Evaluation Rules (all of them, or the ones you pick), or Missing Must include keywords, which is off by default because it's usually a missing hashtag and can remove videos that sell. It never removes a video Content Moderation couldn't analyze, or one someone added back by hand. Each run removes at most 50 videos, those that spent most first; the rest wait for the next run. If it ran now in the rule form shows what it would remove. Set up auto-removal on Content Moderation opens this rule already filled in.
Rules for a campaign's videos
These act on one campaign's videos. A boost gives a video its own daily budget for a set number of days, on top of the campaign's.
| Rule | What it does |
|---|---|
| Item Efficiency Boost | Boosts videos that reach an ROI and order count. |
| Item Potential Boost | Boosts videos with a strong ad click-through rate after enough impressions. |
| Price-Anchored Cull | Removes videos that spend a multiple of the product's price, or a set floor if higher, without enough orders. |
| Sub-Average ROI Cull | Removes videos whose ROI falls well below the campaign's average video ROI. |
| Queue Kickstart | Gives queued videos a $10, one-day boost, checks them every 5 minutes, and removes the boost once they leave the queue or after a 1–24 hour timeout. |
| Underperforming Boost | Retests videos TikTok marked Underperforming before they spent much. Stop at ROI, Stop at orders, or Max spend per boost can end a boost early; the rule checks every hour. |
Rule boosts run $10–$10,000 a day for 1–30 days, and end early if the campaign ends first. A video that already has a boost is skipped. Weekly boost cap limits what a rule commits over a rolling 7 days, counting each boost's daily budget × days, and skips boosts that would pass it.
Let new videos run on their own first
A new video often needs a few days to find its audience without paid help. Wait after posting on Item Efficiency Boost, Item Potential Boost, and Underperforming Boost holds a video until it was posted at least that many days ago, from 1 to 30. The rule picks it up on a later run once it's old enough.
While it's set, a video Euka doesn't have a post date for isn't boosted, and the rule's Last run says how many it held for that reason. Leave the field blank to boost a video as soon as it qualifies. Queue Kickstart has no wait, because its job is to get a queued video moving right away.
Removals stop paid delivery shortly afterward; the creator's post stays up. TikTok allows them only while a campaign is on, and in Product GMV Max only when it picks its videos automatically (as of October 2026). Rules skip other campaigns and say why. They never add videos back: use Add back on the GMV Max Creatives tab.
When rules run
- Rules read the latest numbers from TikTok. Rules with a 1-day window, Target ROI + Budget Sync, Queue Kickstart, and any rule with a cooldown under 6 hours run every hour; the rest run at 00:30, 06:30, 12:30, and 18:30 UTC. Switching to live takes effect on the next run.
- Cooldown applies per campaign, or per video for video rules, Remove AI Videos, and Remove Flagged Videos. It can be 1–720 hours; Remove AI Videos and Remove Flagged Videos always use 24. Dry-run actions start it too, and skips during it aren't logged.
- Rules skip paused campaigns and never turn them back on.
- A rule's changes show as Automation in each campaign's History.
Currency: what to enter
Enter spend and cost thresholds, such as Minimum spend, CPA thresholds, Max daily budget, Max spend per boost, and spend floors, in the ad account's currency. They're compared with TikTok's own figures, without conversion. When your Shop sells in another currency, the fields on GMV Max name the ad account's currency and show "≈" the amount in your Shop's currency at the European Central Bank's latest rate.
Enter boost budgets and Weekly boost cap in US dollars. Euka converts them to the ad account's currency at an approximate rate and rounds up.
If a rule isn't working
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Rate limited · retries automatically | TikTok is limiting requests, sometimes for several hours. The rule retries, and every rule runs at 00:30 UTC. |
| Failed | Read the reason under the rule and check the TikTok Ads connection in GMV Max. If it keeps failing, contact us at support@euka.ai. |
| No match because there are too few videos | Wait for more videos, or lower Sub-Average ROI Cull's minimum. |
| A rule matches but nothing changes | Check its mode, cooldown, the campaign's status, Max daily budget, and Weekly boost cap. |
| A boost rule never boosts new videos | Check Wait after posting. Videos without a known post date are held too while it's set, and Last run says how many. |
