Meta Ads: linking ads to creator videos
Last updated: October 9, 2026
We credit each Meta ad to the licensed creator video it uses, meaning a video you have permission to use in your own ads. We link an ad by the video ID in its name, by the file when the ad runs a video we uploaded to Meta for you, or, when neither applies, by comparing the ad's footage with your licensed videos once a day.
Setting up Meta Ads, the creator program, and payouts is covered in Meta Ads: setup, program, and payouts.
Why use it
When you run creator videos as Meta ads, each ad's results have to be credited to the right video. That's how the right creator earns commission on the ad and shows up in your reports.
Where to find it
- On Ads > Meta Ads, the Ads tab has a Source Video column. It shows the creator and video an ad is linked to, or "—" when it isn't linked. To list either kind, set the Status filter to Linked or Unlinked.
- The Auto Links tab, on the same page, lists the ads we linked by matching footage, for you to review.
- On Ads > Licensed Content, each video's ID is under the creator's handle, with a copy button. The Linked column shows how many ads use the video.
How to link an ad by its name
- In Ads > Licensed Content, copy the video's ID.
- In Meta Ads Manager, put the ID anywhere in the ad's name, for example
Summer promo 7451234567890123456 v2. Words, dates, and codes around it don't matter. - Wait for the next daily sync, or click Refresh in Meta account (the gear at the top right of Ads > Meta Ads) to sync now. After the sync, the ad's Source Video shows the creator and video.
| Video | Its ID |
|---|---|
| A TikTok video | A number of 17 to 20 digits |
| A video a creator uploaded to Euka | euka_v_ followed by 12 characters |
| An Instagram video | ig_ followed by digits |
Keep a TikTok ID apart from other digits. A space, underscore, or letter next to it is fine, but digits that run into it are not. If a name holds several IDs that aren't joined with "+", we use the first one that belongs to a video you've licensed.
Ads you create from Euka end with the video's ID, so they link on their own. See Meta ads.
How to link an ad that uses several creators' videos
If one ad stitches together clips from several licensed videos, put all their IDs in the name, joined with "+" and no spaces, for example 7451234567890123456+7459876543210987654+7452468013579246801.
- Each listed video gets an equal share of the ad's results: with three IDs, each is credited a third. The split counts everywhere the ad's results show up: payouts, Performance, and the creators' upcoming earnings.
- A listed video you haven't licensed keeps its share, and no one is paid for it. The other creators still get exactly their share.
- The split is always equal, so you can't set your own percentages.
- Listing the same ID twice counts it twice.
- You can mix TikTok, upload, and Instagram IDs in one list. Only the first list in a name counts.
- The old
sid:prefix still works, but you don't need it.
How an ad on a video we uploaded to Meta links on its own
When you send a licensed video to Meta from Euka, with Upload all, Upload selected, or by creating the ads in Euka, we keep a record of which licensed video that Meta file came from. Any ad running that file is linked to that video at the next sync, even when its name has no ID in it.
- These links don't appear under Auto Links, because there's nothing for you to check: the ad is running the file we sent.
- A name holding a licensed video's ID is read first, so a name always wins.
- We skip an ad whose name carries another platform's tag, such as Trybe's, and a video whose license you have since revoked.
How visual matching works
Once a day, we take the ads that still aren't linked and compare their footage with your licensed videos. When one video clearly matches, we link the ad. When we aren't sure, or two videos match equally well, we leave the ad unlinked.
- We only compare ads with videos you've licensed.
- Visual matching never changes a link made from an ad's name. Once it has linked an ad, we stop reading that ad's name.
- Ads that were recut, cropped hard, or mixed with new footage may not match, so keep putting IDs in ad names.
- A link made this way counts toward commission straight away, without waiting for you. Before you pay, Ads > Usage Rights > Pending Payment reminds you to review auto-linked ads.
How to review and revert an automatic link
- In Ads > Meta Ads, open Auto Links. The number next to the tab name is how many auto-linked ads there are.
- For each auto-linked ad, play the Meta ad and the licensed video to compare them. They're shown side by side, with the ad's campaign, ad set, and status, as well as the creator's compensation.
- If they don't match, click Revert link.
- Reverting stops commission on that ad and recalculates commission that's owed but not yet charged.
- It doesn't reverse periods that were already paid or are being charged. The section tells you when that's the case. Contact us at support@euka.ai about those periods.
- A reverted ad stays unlinked, and we won't link it again, by name or by footage. If it should be credited to another of your licensed videos, contact us at support@euka.ai.
Rules and limits
- Links from ad names update at every sync: once a day, and whenever you click Refresh.
- Visual matching runs once a day, so an ad it links can take a day or more to show up in Auto Links.
- If you change an ad's name to an ID you haven't licensed, we remove the link we had made from the old name.
- There's no page for linking an ad to a video by hand, and no switch to turn visual matching off.
What we don't control
- Ad names live in Meta. We read them but never rename an ad, so to change a link, change the name in Meta.
- Trybe adds its tag to the name of every ad it launches:
trybe=followed by an ID (as of September 2026). We never link those ads or pay commission on them, even when the name also holds a video ID, so a creator paid through Trybe isn't paid twice. We recognize them only by that tag, so keep it in the name.
When something goes wrong
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "—" under Source Video | The ad isn't linked. Its name has no licensed video's ID, and there's no visual match yet. | Add the video's ID to the ad name in Meta, then click Refresh. |
| An ad linked to the wrong creator, with an ID in its name | The ID in the name belongs to another video. | Fix the name in Meta, then click Refresh. |
| An ad in Auto Links linked to the wrong video | Visual matching got it wrong. | Click Revert link. |
| Some periods for this link were already paid or are being charged now. | Reverting won't reverse those payouts. | Click Contact support to adjust those. |
FAQs
Do I still need to put video IDs in ad names?
Yes. A name gives an exact link at the next sync and covers ads that visual matching can't recognize. Visual matching is a backstop for missed IDs.
What if I forget the ID?
In most cases, we find the video in our daily visual check and link the ad. The ad then appears in Auto Links for you to review.
What if I put the wrong ID in the name?
The name wins, and visual matching won't correct it. Change the name in Meta and click Refresh. We re-read it and link the right video, or drop the link if the new ID isn't one you've licensed.
Could Euka link an ad to a video I never licensed?
No. Both ways of linking only look at videos you've licensed.
Can I turn automatic matching off?
No, but you can revert any single link in Auto Links.
Why is my ad still not linked?
It's usually one of these:
- It hasn't been synced yet.
- Its name has no ID of a licensed video.
- It was edited too much to match.
- The video isn't licensed in Euka.
- Its name carries a Trybe tag.
